Kristen was the only girl she knew who looked forward to school. Everyone assumed it was because she was friends with the teachers, and that wasn't untrue. There were good teachers at DT, good teachers who cared. She would miss them. She would miss Cliff, too, miss him like a limb.
Because there were two more years until she was a senior, two more years of yelling and whiskey stench and fear, and when they were up, Kristen was never coming back.
