"Ahava," Arelie says, when Maria insists that she name the baby. "It means love."

So much love. Her baby's going to be very loved, already is—Maria's holding her so delicately, her hand curved around the baby's head, wisps of black hair peeking out through her fingers. There's so much love in the tension of Maria's arm, in the pads of her fingers on the baby's cheek.

So much love in Maria's arms when Arelie cried, in the press of her shoulder and her hands combing through Arelie's hair, black as the baby's, their baby's.

So much love.

"Ahava Maria."
