The trees look like they're on fire, flame-colored leaves on dry wicks of bark. It's an appropriate image, he thinks, staring up at them. Fire and blood and dry dead bones crunching underfoot.
He enjoys being a popular professor, being well-liked. He enjoys hunting more, nothing but silent movements and the hilt of a knife in his hand, and the hurried frantic breath of his prey.
His brother likes to keep them, play with them. He prefers the immediacy, the gush of hot blood over his hands.
The man's eyes are wide and staring. He enjoys seeing them like that.
