Tea Rose 7+ Acrylic: Friendship and Loyalty
Name: Destiny
Story: The Feltonshire Generation (Archive) Ignore the misspelling, I clearly wasn't paying attention when I created it.
Title: Friendship and Loyalty
Timeline: April 15, 1795
Colors: Tea Rose 7: Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love.
Supplies and Styles: Acrylic (Flint Hills)
Word Count: 400
Summary: Leonard asks Rachel about his offer.
Rating: PG
Warnings: Power imbalance in interpersonal relationships
Notes: This is the second piece in my Georgian set series. May I have a tag for the story? Rachel is a servant in Baron Feltonshire's home. Leonard is his elder son.
He saw her escape through the back door. He knew she probably wanted to be alone, but he followed her anyway.
The rolling acres were freshly green since it was the beginning of spring, but Leonard didn’t notice. He only had eyes for her.
He found her sitting on the high point of a hill. Internally he was debating whether to surprise or announce himself.
“What are you doing out here?”
That answered his question.
“I could ask you the same question,” Leonard said.
She sighed and pulled her knees up to her chest.
“I wanted some quiet, my lord. I know technically you’re my master, but couldn’t you leave me alone for awhile?”
Leonard grinned as he sat down next to her.
“I’m not your master, Rachel. I’m just your boss’s son.”
She smiled lightly before turning away from him.
“Have you thought about what I asked?” He said picking a blade of grass.
Rachel kept her head down. Leonard waited patiently for her say something.
“Rachel?”
“My lord, it isn’t proper for a master to have a relationship with his servant,” she said quietly.
Leonard rolled his eyes. “Not this again Rachel. I’m not your master. And even if I was, so what? Why should that stop us from having a relationship?”
He reached out to touch her arm, but she stood up.
“Do you know what the other servants will say? I have a reputation to protect, my lord. I won’t destroy that just because you happen to fancy the little dark one,” she said tersely.
Leonard stood up as well. “You don’t know how much I want you, Rachel. I’ve never wanted anything more in my life.”
“You’ve never wanted for anything,” she said walking in the opposite direction.
Leonard paced behind her. “We could be good together. Just think of it.”
She stopped suddenly which caused him to crash into her.
She took a step back. “All I can offer you, my lord, is my loyalty and my friendship.”
Leonard looked up from the ground. “I don’t want to be your friend, Rachel.”
She turned on her heel. “Then you will have to do with loyalty.”
Leonard sighed as he watched her figure recede over the hills. This hasn’t gone well. He had been hoping that she would accept him, but Rachel had always been headstrong. That was what he liked about her the most.
