Notes: Alexandra is referred to as Alexa by her friends. Heather Rackam is a famous international pop singer that the girls like while the boys aren't so fond of her. Pastry Castle is a local coffee place in Maple Hill.

Mari and her friends were at the Pastry Castle. They had just left school and were relaxing before going their separate ways.

Jennika was drinking her black coffee and watching the others talk and gossip.

“So Alexa are you going to sing in the talent show?” Aruna asked.

Alexandra blushed at this mention. Aruna smiled gently.

“I don’t know, I’m still thinking about it,” Alexandra said quietly picking her at apple tart.
Mari laid her head down on Alexandra’s shoulder. “I told you before that I think you should do it, Alexa. Your voice is simply amazing.”

“Yeah and you should pick a better song than that Heather Markam twit,” Kamon hollered across the connecting tables.

Aruna slapped Kamon in the chest, which made Kamon grin at him.

“It’s Rackham and her songs are perfectly fine,” Mari said. She turned to Daniel.

“Right?”

Daniel cleared his throat. The boys were all grinning at him and the girls were waiting for his response.

“Yeah Heather’s stuff is perfectly fine.”

“Ahhh,” Kamon and Luke said together.

“Shut up!”

Mari smiled at Daniel, which he returned with a grin.

“So Mari, I have a question for you,” Jennika said at the end of the table.

Mari looked away from Daniel. “Oh?”

“I was wondering where you were, Wilcox. Usually you never shut the fuck up,” Luke teased.

Jennika shot him a furtive glance, but didn’t say anything else.

“So Miss Rodriguez, here’s your question. If you were stranded on a desert island, who would you rather be stranded with?”

Mari coughed. Everyone was looking at her. Daniel was staring hard at her from her left side while Jennika was staring at her from her right side.

“Uh I don’t know, I plead the fifth,” Mari said lightly.

“Aw don’t cop out, Rodriguez,” Luke said from Daniel’s side of the table.

Mari bit her lip. She glanced at Jennika.

“I guess it would be Alexa,” Mari said.

Alexandra looked up surprised. She smiled at Mari and touched her hand lightly.

She took a peek at Daniel. He was staring in the opposite direction.

Jennika clicked her tongue. “I see.”

“But that was a hypothetical question right?”

Jennika didn’t say anything else as she sipped her coffee. Mari sighed and took a bit out of her cream puff.

To say that things were awkward was an understatement.

Ah, I've always hated those kinds of questions! They almost always lead to awkwardness.

Man, why do people ask those questions, nobody ever answers them well. Awkward seriously.
