Notes: I don't know if I introduced Antonio yet, but here he is. His past is pretty sad, but it does get better over time. Enjoy!
Antonio walked around the hospital, taking in the fresh air and calm breeze. He didn’t sign up for a therapy session today. After going for two weeks straight, he wanted a break. Antonio looked around noticing different patients sitting outside on the benches. Some patients were alone, others sat together on benches. Antonio wasn’t to the point of making friends yet. He walked towards an empty bench taking a seat to enjoy the sunny day.
Antonio noticed the garden in front of him and walked towards the flowers. There were Daisies, Tulips, Violets, Carnations, and different flowers from the different demon classes. His eyes widened at the Roses, Hydrangeas, and Orchids the flowers associated with Air. It was a good representation of Sky Demons and their relationship with the air.
Antonio rubbed the red roses gently with his claw. Maria loved flowers.
Antonio walked into the gardens in search of Maria. He received her notice about meeting in the gardens for something important. Antonio walked around trying not to become lost in the maze of flowers and vines. He smiled at the sight of Maria in front of her favorite place, the rose bushes. Antonio walked behind her wrapping his arms around her waist. “Hello, my love.”
Maria turned around her green eyes shining in happiness. “Hello, dear. I’m glad you got my message.”
“Yes I did, I came here quickly after my meeting. What is it?” Antonio asked.
“I wanted you to see the rose bushes. They have grown so much, but the best way to see it is in the air.” She stepped out of his arms her wings flapping lightly. Maria floated in the air holding her hand out to Antonio. “Join me?”
Antonio nodded, taking Maria’s hand. “Of course,” He lifted off the ground slowly as Maria gripped his hand. They floated above the gardens looking at the beautiful fields of red, white, and pink. Antonio spotted another color and turned to Maria. “Blue?”
Maria nodded. “Yes it’s something our scientists have been toying with for awhile. They were able to get the blue roses ready for me this year. Aren’t they beautiful?”
Antonio nodded. “They are.” He swooped down and picked one out of it. He flew back to Maria and placed the rose in her hair. “Very beautiful,”
Maria smiled, wrapping her arms around Antonio’s waist. “You’re so sweet. Do you have anything else to do today?”
“Not for a little while. Where are Eve and Faustino?” Antonio asked.
“Eve is with her friend Sue, you know Amelia’s daughter. Faustino is in the training room with Emilio, Enrique’s son those two better not be fighting in there again.” Maria said.
Antonio chuckled. “They’ll be fine. If those two didn’t fight I would be worried.”
Maria giggled. “That’s true. I can’t wait to show you the Tulips. We even have pink Tulips this year and we’re getting some flowers from the Water and Fire Demons too. I can’t wait for them. They’re going to be so beautiful when they enter our garden.”
“I look forward to it.”
Maria gripped Antonio’s hand. “Come with me. You have to see the rest of the flowers.”
Antonio squeezed back. “Alright.”
Maria smiled, flying slowly above the gardens. Antonio followed noticing that most of the flowers were in bloom. He enjoyed the beginning of spring in Arrownite. There was nothing better than flying around the community admiring the colors blend into a beautiful work of art. Antonio looked over at Maria and the happiness in her eyes. Antonio smiled seeing Maria happy was another reason he loved spring.
Antonio didn’t know he picked the rose until a petal landed in his lap. He picked it up and placed it in his palm. Antonio’s heart clenched as the petal danced with the wind. Antonio moved to crush the petal when something moved behind him. He turned around to Bernard who waved and took a seat next to him.
“Alene and my daughters planted these flowers. My sons did the next bush over. Chris loves plants they’re his therapy for a long day. We have these gardens as a form of therapy as well. You can use them any time you want.” Bernard said.
Antonio nodded and blew the petal out of his hand. “M-My wife, Maria, loved flowers we had a maze of gardens that we would fly over the beginning of spring.”
“It sounds nice. Can you tell me more about Maria? She sounded like a lovely woman.” Bernard said.
Antonio smiled the first smile Bernard ever saw on his face. “She was wonderful. She was beautiful, smart, kind, and always looked to the bright side of things. She took care of the gardens and helped keep the records in the kingdom. She had a good memory and could remember anything that happened. Well, almost, anything. She could forget to feed the fish some times.”
Bernard laughed. “I do that constantly.”
Antonio chuckled. “I suppose it’s an easy thing to forget.”
“Yeah it is. Tell me more about her.” Bernard said.
“Alright, well…” Antonio trailed off telling Bernard about Maria and the way she helped throughout Arrownite. It was the first time Antonio ever talked about Maria since the incident. Antonio felt good to let someone know about her, but his heart clenched through the happy memories. He didn’t know where she was or if she was alive. Antonio only hoped that one day he would see Maria again.
