Faded Blue, Zing 5: Debts
Author: Kat
Title: Debts
Story: In the Heart -- Mafia AU
Colors: Faded blue 24 (Time hurries by, we're here and we're gone), zing 5 (how about never?) with shadowsong's paint-by-numbers (There are some days where I just want to set the world on fire.).
Supplies and Materials: Eraser, brush (disapprobation), acrylic (last meeting), oils (better late than never), stain (It is very easy to defeat someone, but it is very difficult to win someone. - Dr. Abdul Kalaam), feathers (this picture, that started it all), glitter (penalty), charcoal, fingerpainting (first person, Mafia AU wtf).
Word Count: 450
Rating: R
Summary: Sometimes you can't do anything but be there.
Warnings: violence, some sexually-related.
Notes: So, um, yes. Kelly has freaky mind-control powers. This isn't even the story I was planning.
He's waiting for me, and I am ready.
He's smiling at me, smug. I don't know if it's because I am beautiful, or because I am the boss's daughter, but I can read it in his face. I smile back, and take his hand, and let him lead me into the room.
I wonder if he notices that I'm not wearing perfume. I wonder if he knows what that means.
The bed is the central point, which isn't at all subtle, and he leads me over to sit on it. I suppose it doesn't matter; it's why I'm here. I let him kiss me, and kiss my shoulders, and unzip my dress, and ease it down to my waist, before I push him back just a little and touch his chin.
"There was a girl," I say, softly. "Last week, when you did work for my father. There was a girl who was shot."
He raises his eyebrows, says, "Yes...?" and bends to kiss my shoulder again. For a few moments, I let him.
"It was you who shot her," I say, in time. He doesn't raise his head this time, only mumbles. I'm going to have a mark there.
I push him away, less gently this time. "Was it a mistake?"
This time he looks annoyed. "Was what a mistake?"
"The girl," I say, less patiently. Red hair and blood on the pavement, and a small pale hand, fingers half-curled. "The girl you shot. Was it a mistake?"
He rolls his eyes. "Stop playing games with me. You know it wasn't."
I smile. It's that or hit him. "I do?"
"Order came down from the top," he says. "That girl's somebody's sister. Boss wanted to send a message."
I raise my eyebrows this time. "It wasn't a mistake, then."
"I don't make mistakes," he says. It isn't nice. "Now shut up. You gonna fuck me or are you just being a fucking tease?"
I smile at him again, very gently, and stroke the side of his face. "You should have said it was a mistake, honey."
"Why?" He pushes me now, shoves me flat on the bed. "The fuck does it matter?"
The gun is cool in my hand, the kick hard against my palm. He goes down screaming-- not that it matters. There's no one else in this building, and the room is soundproof anyway, no bugs. He made very sure of that.
"Because," I tell him, sitting up, "you were going to die anyway, but that way you might have died fast."
I can't fix what happened. I can't make her better. I can't bring back what I lost.
But I can damned well make someone pay.

I say this to myself so much XD.
I love the really cool detachment of the speaker in this. It adds a nice platform to really view what she's doing.

Thank you!
