4) Cute animals
She squeals softly when she sees the bunch of young kittens – eyes opening wide when her mother tells her to pick one.
3) Beloved plaything
She wasn’t the kind of girl to play with dolls or play house – she’d rather hang out with the boys, climbing trees and going on a treasure hunt – the handmade bow her father gave her one day accompanies her on all her explorations.
22) Watching a beautiful person
The first time Caithlynn realized that she was a little different from the boys she always played with, was when she looked – really looked – at Alan swimming in the river and she caught herself thinking that he was cute and beautiful.
6) Not being sick anymore
Once she had been really sick – never before had she felt so miserable – but when Alan passed by with his mother’s chicken soup and a soft whispered “you have to get better soon”, she smiled and pretended to be okay, just to see him smile and make the sad look on his face go away.

Caithlynn has three copies of her favorite book : one lying next to her bed, one standing on the bookshelves, and one she carries with her – always.
