He can see her eyes flashing. Angry. Dangerous.
Simon place a reassuring hand on her shoulder. Needing her to calm down. (Before she does anything stupid).
Sarah shakes it off, steps forward, out of his reach.
"I won't allow you to..."
Calm voice. Deadly calm. It scares the both of them.
"You have no right to want him dead. He saved my life. Our lives. He has done nothing wrong. And we know him. He is one of us!"
Sarah looks at the swords the villagers hold. Pointed to Simon.
She draws her own dagger. "You fight him. Then me as well.”
-
“Sarah.”
She shakes her head. Placing her fingers against his lips.
“You know I’d fight for you.”
Carefully he takes her hand in his own. Before leaning forward. Catching her lips with his.
“I’m glad you didn’t have to.”
She smiles. “Well, you calling out for the Wind made sure of that.”
Of course Simon can see the clouds covering her eyes. Wrapping his arms around her, holding her close.
-
“Well, I guess this is goodbye?”
Gently Simon squeezes her hand.
“Never goodbye. I’ll come back for you. You know I will.”
Carefully her fingers caress his cheek. She nods once. He needs the confirmation.
“Where will you go?”
He shrugs. “East. At first. Who knows where the Wind will take me next. I have to find the other Wielders. Together we stand a chance against the Shadows.”
-
“How could you? Attacking a Wielder? What has happened to you? We must fight the Shadows, not the ones destined to defeat it…”
All around her she sees the same blank looks. The empty gazes.
Angry she walks to her house. Crashing a vase against the ground. When she looks up she sees a little statue on her table.
“A salamander?”
Taking it in her hand to have a closer look. A wooden Dragon. And without it needing to be said, she knows it is Simon’s Dragon.
“I’ll wait for you.”

Simon is Caithlynn's father and the previous Wielder of Air...
Glad to hear you like it and of course Sarah will always defend him. She loves him.
and yeah, it was unfair.no subject
