As a child she was obsessed with the great ocean. Fascinated by the waves. So beautiful and full of force. So dangerous.

But she rarely ever went to the sea. Her mother finding it a pure waste of time and money and gas.

So when she finally steps out of the car - her teddy still clutched against her chest - and she hears the seagulls, she can hardly believe it.

It is the best birthday present ever!

I like the simplistic style to the lines here, it feels like a child is speaking. I would like to see a bit more detail, myself, but the snippit works well as is.
