She takes a different road when walking home that evening. Needing some private time. Time alone. With her thoughts. It is only then she notices a ring around her finger. The golden band catching the sunlight, reflecting it.
For a second she wonders why it is there. Before the memories come rushing back to her. The song from earlier that day ringing through her head.
Swallowing she steadies herself against the wall. Feeling the rough stones touch her flesh, feeling the cold stones beneath her fingers. It triggers another memory.
Gasping, his name escaping her lips. Her other hand balled to a fist. Nails digging into the soft flesh. Nearly drawing blood.
Turning her head, her eyes meet a beautiful sunset. Soon the sky will be a dark blue, nearly black, with bright stars and only a small crescent of the moon visible. Such a different scene from last time she was her.
She starts to walk. Unsteady legs nearly giving away beneath her.
Rafael...
Her gaze wanders around, searching. Searching for... even the smallest of hints that...
But she doesn't find it. Doesn't find him...
For hours she roams around the town. Just... walking. Not paying attention to anything except her thoughts. The darkness of the night not scaring her. She remembers a time where it terrified her though.
"I love you."
The words, whispered to him, as familiar as breathing.
