Notes: Henri and his party are traveling from the capital to the lower region of Cadomiselle to visit Anna. She has been back in her hometown of Ceirise for two months for her "health" according to her father.

“Are we almost there?” Henri asked the driver impatiently.

The man shook his head.

Henri turned to his best friend, Claude. Claude was busy reading the broadsheets.

“You need to calm down,” Claude said without taking his eyes from the paper.

Henri sighed. He looked out the window. Cadomiselle was a lovely place. There were a number of vineyards and the estates were made in the old Passian-esque style with white brick and red roofs in the tradition of the dukedom.

“What do you think she’s doing?” Henri asked snatching the broadsheet from Claude’s hands.

Claude looked up and frowned.

“I don’t know maybe chanting to the Sun or something?”

Henri laughed. “It would make sense for her to chant to the Sun as she’s the warmest most gracious woman I have ever met.”

Claude gave Henri a disbelieving look. Was he for real? He had only known the lady for three months and she had been away from court for two of those months. How could he judge her personality like that? He had never seen his friend like this.

“I think you’re giving the lady too much credit, Henri. You don’t really know her, do you?”

Henri half smiled at Claude. “I feel as though I’ve known her forever. She’s intoxicating, Claude. I must have her.”

Claude sighed. “Henri be reasonable. The lady has refused you, there are plenty more women out there and more beautiful than this one.”

“Do you suggest that my lady is ugly?” Henri snarled.

Claude held up his hands. “Not at all, but you must admit that she is not traditionally beautiful like her sister.”

“Perhaps I’ve gotten tired of these “traditional beauties”. I want her and I will have her or so help me. She cannot resist me forever. No woman can.”

Claude rolled his eyes and looked out the carriage window.

“How much longer?” Henri yelled to the driver.

“Some thirty miles, Your Majesty. We might have to stop at an inn tonight.”

Henri sighed. “I might as well ride the rest of the way. I’d be there quicker,” he grumbled to himself.

Oh, Henri. This is going to get you in trouble.
