It was funny, the things you looked at but didn't really see.

The sidewalk, for instance. Grey pavement burned white by the noon sun, vast slabs speckled with unidentifiable dark spots and cigarette butts. Miranda walked over this sidewalk several times a day, over this very spot, and she had never seen it.

And now her blood spilled out on the sidewalk, dying that grey-white pavement a dark red. Now she lay with her cheek pressed against the rough concrete, and all she could see was the white-hot glare.

The things you see when you're dying.

She closed her eyes.

I agree with [personal profile] isana. This is very chilling and the way she seems detached from it makes it seem...idk the right words to say. Ah maybe removed from it?

I especially like the end of this. As if Miranda's vaguely annoyed to have been touched by the whole situation. Even though she's /dying/.

She's also totally Miranda.
