Title: Pleasant Greetings
Word Count: 482
Rating: PG
Summary: Alene has a crappy day, which happens to be her anniversary, but Bernard helps make it better.
Warnings: maybe off screen sexy times
Notes: I wanted to write some fluff because I few more sad pieces to post soon. I have to work on my challenge as well. Well enjoy!
Alene trudged home and pulled out her ribbon, letting her hair drop to her shoulders. She couldn’t believe how busy her day had been. Two unruly Ice Demons, one Fire Demon who refused to take their medicine, and three Sky Demons who flew away when her team of nurses came around with their daily shots. If she had to wrangle one more Sky Demon down from the roof, she was going to make sure they wouldn’t fly for a week.
She rubbed her shoulder as she walked in the foyer.
“Bernard! Kids! I’m home!” Alene called, running her fingers through her hair. She frowned when she didn’t hear anything and increased her steps through the house. She stopped at the dining room, noticing the dimmed lights and soft candles on the table. She smiled when arms wrapped around her waist.
“Hello dear.” Bernard kissed her cheek.
“Hi. Where are the kids?” Alene leaned against him.
“They’re out with their friends, except Chris, he’s with that Necromancer he started dating. He’s a nice young man and Chris gets so tongue tied around him it’s funny.”
“They are cute together and I’m happy he found someone, but what’s all this?” Alene gestured to the lights and the candles on the table.
“Don’t you remember? Today is our anniversary. I wanted to surprise you with dinner and some peace at home.”
“I wondered why I didn’t hear Angelique blowing something up in her lab.” Alene giggled.
“She’s doing that with Olivia at her place.” Bernard chuckled. He pressed another kiss on her cheek and stepped back from her. He took her hand and walked down to the middle of the table.
“I have some flowers for you too.” Bernard pointed to the vase of roses in front of them.
Alene smiled and pressed a quick kiss on his lips. “Thank you. They’re lovely.” She walked over and plucked the card out of the flowers.
Twelve roses for every month of seeing your beauty, feeling your strength, and having the patience of a Priestess; I love you honey. I hope we share another twelve months together.
Alene smiled and turned to Bernard who had a sheepish smile. “What do you say? Twelve more months of our craziness to equal into a fantastic year?”
Alene giggled as she walked over to him. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.” She pressed a soft kiss to his lips, wrapping her arms around his neck. Bernard smiled against her lips and wrapped his arms around her waist. Alene hummed happily and pressed her body against him.
I wish more days could end like this. “Want to take this to our bedroom? We can boil the water again.” Alene smiled and cupped his cheek.
“Sounds like a plan.” Bernard grinned. He pulled Alene close and teleported to their bedroom.
Alene couldn’t think of a better way to end her day.
