Notes: Anna is about four months along with her first child when this takes place.
“What do you see?” Henri asked the seer eagerly.
“I’ll need quietness, Your Majesty,” the man said.
Henri fell into silence. He glanced at Anna who was watching the seer closely.
The water in the crystal bowl was calm. The seer picked up three pebbles and dropped them into the bowl.
The water rippled. The seer nodded as he studied them.
“Well, what do you see?” Anna asked.
The seer looked up at her and smiled.
“I see a great child in your future, Your Majesty.”
Anna smiled and turned to her husband. Henri smiled at her and placed a kiss on her cheek.
“You will be compensated handsomely, my good man,” Henri said to the seer.
The man smiled and raised his hand in protest. “I only want to serve the realm in any way I can, Your Majesty. It was my pleasure to help you.”
Henri clapped the man on the back. “You’ve done a great service to the Crown. I will see that you are compensated.”
With this, Henri took Anna’s arm and led her out of the room. She smiled at the man as she went.
The seer smiled lightly at her.
When they were gone, the man sat back down at the table to peer at the calming water.
