Summary: Ivy is writing a poem. Aaron is trying to read.

“Aaron!” Ivy shouted, across the living room.

Sure sign that her mother wasn’t home. He winced, and knowing from experience that she wouldn't shut up without an answer, closed his book. “What?”

“What rhymes with purple?”

“Nothing.” That was easy. He opened his book again.

“That’s not true,” Ivy said, from much closer. He jumped, then sighed, and put the book down. “What about… about… furple?”

Little sisters, God. “That’s not a real word.”

“Is so,” Ivy said, jutting out her chin.

He regarded her for a moment. “Use it in a sentence, then.”

There was a pause. “The furple… cat… did not like hair dye.”

It was Aaron’s turn to pause, considering. That actually made some minor sense. “Okay,” he said. “Furple can be a word, I guess. But don’t blame me if you lose points because of it.”

Ivy tossed her head. “I’ll blame my teacher, for lack of imagination.”

“Fair enough,” he said, and picked up his book.
