Notes: Giselle Bauldry was the sister of Jean Michele Everart, the Duke of Cadomiselle, and father to Anna Everart.

It was the evening before Martine’s coronation. She and ten of her ladies had left the Spring Palace and went to Bosinia Castle to stay as tradition demanded before she would leave for the St. Ambroise Cathedral.

When they arrived at the gate Martine looked up at the white stone castle and shivered. She touched her stomach unconsciously. She felt the babe move.

The gate was opened and the carriage went through. Martine turned to her sister, Celine.
“Is it true that Bosinia is haunted?” Martine said fearfully.

Celine raised her eyebrow at her sister, but she chose her words carefully.

“It’s said to be haunted, but there is no such things as ghost are there, dear sister?”

Martine’s big brown eyes widened. She had always believed in ghosts and she personally thought there were at the Bauldry ancestral home, Emtieque Manor, in Nolline.

But she had never told her sister of her fears and their brother and father would have laughed. She had wished her mother, Giselle, had been alive. But she sometimes though she had heard her mother ghostly laugh.

The carriage stopped and the footmen opened the door to let Martine and her sister out. Celine held out her hand for Martine.

“Are we going to be staying in the Queen’s Tower?” Martine asked.

Celine laughed. “You mean the Left Tower? No dear sister that is for prisoners. We’re staying in Right Tower where the Crown Jewels are stored. You’ll be sleeping in the room where all the Mondian monarchs since Jean II have stayed before their coronation.”

Martine brightened up then. “Oh thank the Holy Mother.”

Martine and Celine went up the steps and entered the Castle with her other nine ladies following behind her.

Later That Night

Martine was peacefully asleep when she heard a woman’s voice. She woke up slowly and sat up in bed.

“Hello?”

Cousin.

Martine looked around the room. Her ladies were asleep in the next room. Her chamber was dark, but she couldn’t make out anyone in the room.

“Who’s there?” Martine called out.

Be careful cousin.

Martine jumped out of the bed and opened the door. She stepped out into the stone corridor and looked around.

“Who are you? Why aren’t you asleep? Answer me. I am to be Queen!” Martine shouted out.

“My Lady?” One of her ladies, Alaina, came out from behind her.

Martine screamed at the girl’s sudden appearance.

“Were you the one talking?” Martine demanded.

Alaina looked at her and shook her head. “I heard you talking, my lady, and I was worried about you.”

Martine let out a deep breath. She looked around again and strained her ears to hear the voice again, but it was gone.

“You should get some sleep, my lady. Tomorrow will be a busy day.”

Martine nodded and followed the girl back to her quarters. She got into the bed and Alaina pulled the coverlet up over her.

“Sleep well, my lady,” Alaina said moving to blow out the candle, but Martine stopped her.

“No leave it,” Martine said. Alaina started to say something, but she thought better of it. She moved the candle further away from the Queen and returned to her room.

Martine lay. It was awhile before she got to sleep, but she finally did, she dreamed of violets.

Ooh, creepy. Martine probably should have listened to the warning.

Yeeeeeah I would've listened to her if I were you, Martine. She knows whereof she speaks.

Why that note about the violets, at the end?
