Notes: Fatimah is hard to write, sometimes.

She lets him back in the house after three days.

She neither knows nor cares where he's been in the meantime. With her, she thought at first. But he came back, and she knows he never would have come back if he'd been with her.

He did come back, head hanging, eyes down. So she is gone. Fatimah doesn't know how to feel about that.

She knows very well how to feel about him. But she lets him in anyway, because he is her husband, and the father of her children.

She hates him so much she can hardly breathe.

--

She lets him back in her life after three months.

Before that, she never spoke to him if she didn't have to. They discussed their children, money, the move and things pertaining to it, but she said nothing else. He moved to a different bedroom; she moved Jasper and the baby in with her, and they got along well enough.

But three months have passed. He is her husband, and the father of her children.

When he gets home from work, she has moved the boys into his bedroom.

But she still won't speak to him unless it's absolutely necessary.

--

She lets him back in her bed after three years.

She wouldn't have, but she is so lonely, so painfully lonely. She hasn't been touched in three and a half years-- since she grew big enough with Alan that sex became uncomfortable. And his hands still feel good on her, even if she knows he isn't seeing her.

She rolls over afterwards, back to him, and pretends to go to sleep. She does not look at him.

After a while, she hears him sigh, and roll over himself, away from her.

Fatimah closes her eyes, and forces back the tears.

--

She will never let him back in her heart.

::hugs Fatimah:: It's nice to see the way what forgiveness there is for him comes in bits and pieces and isn't a simple thing at all. Well done.

God, poor Fatimah. You can glue things back together, but the crack's still gonna be there.

Wow ... Forgiveness does not come from 1 day to another. It takes time. And you perfectly portretted that. I'm not even sure if she does really forgive him. The sadness and the anger still remains, and I doubt it ever goes away completely.
Your last line is ... wow.
Great piece!

Oh... poor Fatimah. (Urgh, I am not very coherent today. Sorry for the short comment.)

Poor Fatimah, trapped between her husband's betrayal and her own vows and loneliness. That last line is just perfect, because she can make herself go through the motions, but that marriage is never going to be the same again.
