Sienna #17, Bone Black #13, Lotus #4
Story: Asset
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Sienna #17. monastic, Bone Black #13. Tomb/Catacomb, Lotus #4. Illusion
Supplies and Materials: photography, eraser (Confessions AU), acrylic, oils, feathers, chalk, glitter, glue ("Be certain that you know what you want before you make a move that cannot be undone.")
Word Count: 257
Rating: R
Characters: Kirana
Warnings: Imprisonment/isolation, violence viewed from a distance, implied character death.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. This takes place in an alternate 994 FY. The Acrylic and Oils prompts demanded Kira, so here she is. Last Sienna, yay!
Kirana hated it down here, in the tunnels. But it was safe for her here, since even after more than five years, the siege had failed to take Feredar. Even when she saw them coming, the relays to get her information to the army failed, and Kellom was able to make successful sorties. (She hated that she never saw them in time.)
But since the visions of him invading the desert had never really gone away, her mother--now Queen--was determined not to let her fall into enemy hands. And that meant being shut up down here, with a handful of trusted priests and a fire, underground where it was cold and dark, watching, waiting. (She hated being so alone.)
She was dutiful, and kept her own fears out of her reports as best she could. Ever since Isshiri had finally freed himself and Great-Uncle had finally been willing to listen. Ever since the Lost Prince had come to them and she'd been taken down into this hole. (She hated seeing the Lost Prince--always so bereft at what his brother had done.)
Today was different. Today, when she looked in the fire, she saw the final end of it, the end to the long siege and her ticket back to the sunlight. And she saw what it would cost. (She hated having to choose.)
For the first time in all the long years since the War had begun in earnest and she had been hidden away in the dark, Kirana failed to share a vision.
