2. air

When Tsukino spent time with Kazu, it felt like she was walking on air. She couldn’t find any other words to describe it. Kazu made her feel light. He never put anything heavy on her shoulders. When their relationship grew, he was there with a smile and a helpful ear. They talked about any problems and worked things out when they needed to. Kazu made Tsukino feel lighter than air.

She loved every minute of it.

1. sky

Kazu looked to the sky with a grin on his face. He couldn’t believe the amazing date he had with Tsukino. They had lunch in one of his favorite cafes, caught an afternoon movie, and took a walk through the park. They talked about anything and everything that came to mind. There was no demand for an expensive lunch. His hobbies weren’t laughed at and he didn’t have to buy an expensive item to end the date. Kazu didn’t know what he did to receive Tsukino, but he didn’t question it.

He only looked to the sky with a happy grin.

3. Cloud

Tsukino sighed sadly, as she poked her salad. Kazu frowned as he looked at his soup. She had another fight with Saya over their relationship. He knew Saya was upset that Tsukino started to focus on herself and stopped being a punching bag for her family. Kazu loved that he helped Tsukino pull out the woman hidden inside her. He didn’t like that Saya and Miki made her feel bad over it.

Kazu placed his spoon down and pushed his chair back. “Tsuki,”

“Yes?” Tsukino looked up with blood shot eyes.

“Let’s go look at the clouds.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive,” Kazu grinned and offered his hand.

Tsukino took it and walked with him to her office. They moved to the floor and stared at the clouds painted on the ceiling.

“Look, that one is really fluffy isn’t it?”

“Yeah it is.” Tsukino giggled as she curled next to Kazu.

Kazu placed an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. He had to thank Rumiko again for the clouds.

7. storm

Tsukino knew when a storm was brewing. She saw it in Kazu’s eyes when he glared at the wall when he thought she wasn’t looking. Another clue was the way Kazu threw himself into his work. He made designs and backgrounds for five websites, two blogs, and a picture-hosting site. Tsukino knew something was wrong.

One night, she saw the light to Kazu’s office on. Tsukino walked in and saw him working on another project. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,”

“Kazu,”

“I’m fine.”

“Kazu,”

“Really, it’s nothing.”

“Zu-Zu,”

Kazu sighed and leaned against her. “My asshole of a father is bothering my mom again. I don’t get it. He’s never been in my life before. Why is he here now?”

“I don’t know sweetie. I know that’s not the only thing bothering you.”

“…I don’t want him to know about you. He’ll only try to poison you against me and my family.”

“Honey, if my mom and Miki couldn’t make me break up with you, I don’t think your dad stands a chance.”

“You don’t know him. He did that to everyone that has entered my life. He’s vile and a bastard and thinks that we’re all suppose to bow to him and his fucking rules and--”

“He doesn’t know me. I’m not leaving and no one can make me leave.” Tsukino moved around as she knelt in front of Kazu. She stared in his eyes watching the storm rage inside. She placed a hand against his cheek and didn’t break eye contact. “Your dad isn’t getting rid of me. I promise.”

Kazu’s walls tumbled down as he buried his face against Tsukino’s shoulder. “I love you.”

Tsukino kissed his hair as she rubbed his back. “I love you too.”

6. tornado

Tsukino braced herself for the tornado that was Seichiro, Kazu’s father. He destroyed everything in sight, including Kazu’s confidence. She walked into the hall to Seichiro talking down to Kazu. Kazu bit his lip through every insult, but Tsukino couldn’t. She felt something turned on inside as she stomped over to Seichiro.

“Shut up! Kazu is not worthless. He is the smartest, sweetest man I know and I will not let you talk to him like that! You’re not his father! You’re a fucking sperm donor who doesn’t know how awesome his family is. That is your fault! But I’ll be damned if I stand here while you do this! Leave him alone, you fucking bastard!” Tsukino screamed. Her fists shaking as her heart pounded in her chest. She didn’t notice Kazu’s family entered the hallway behind her.

Seichiro blinked in surprise for a moment before he glared. “How dare you talk to me, you fucking bitch!” He raised his hand when Kazu ran over and punched him.

“Kazu!” Tsukino exclaimed.

“If you ever try to hit my fiancé again, I will do more than punch you.” Kazu hissed. He grabbed Seichiro and shoved him towards the door. “Get the fuck out and don’t come back!”

“Fine, I knew it was a waste of time with you anyway.” Seichiro wiped the blood from his chin away on his way to the door.

“Whatever. Get the fuck out!” Kazu yelled.

Seichiro glared as he shut the door behind him.

Tsukino ran over and grabbed Kazu’s hand. “Are you okay?”

Kazu cupped her cheeks and pulled her close for a heated kiss. Tsukino wrapped her arms around Kazu’s waist and pulled him close. Kazu pulled away with a smile. “I’ve never been better. Thank you,”

Tsukino grinned and hugged him with a pleased sigh. She walked back to his family when the words hit her. “Fiancé?”

“Yep, fiancé,” Kazu grinned as he linked their fingers together.

“Fiancé, I like that.” Tsukino giggled as Kazu beamed.

She liked it a lot.

8. hurricane

Kazu nickname for Saya was hurricane Saya. He didn’t know the truth behind the name, until their engagement dinner. From the moment Saya entered the restaurant she didn’t like anything. She didn’t like the restaurant or the colors or the linens. She complained about her food, her plates, her glass, and the set up of the table. Saya started to dig into Tsukino, but Kazu put his foot down.

“Ma’am, I am sorry about your food, placement, and wine isn’t to your liking, but Tsukino did a wonderful job. If you have a problem, I know a nearby restaurant that sells water down ramen. I’m sure they can cater to your needs. Since, Tsukino and I will be busy for a few weeks.” Kazu placed his glass down with a grin.

Saya flushed and excused herself to the bathroom. Miki followed, but Kenji stayed behind. He walked over to Kazu and held out his hand.

“Welcome to the family.”

“Thank you, sir.” Kazu shook his hand. He grinned when Tsukino squeezed his hand under the table.

Saya was a hurricane, but Kazu was prepared.

9. gas

“I’m so confused. Why did Miki say she smelt gas in the kitchen? Didn’t she know that would cause a panic?” Kazu walked in their apartment and undid his tie.

“She knows. That’s why she did it.” Tsukino took the ribbon out her hair on the way to the bedroom.

“Why?” Kazu scratched his head.

“The attention was on me and not on her. Of course, she would cause a panic.” Tsukino said bitterly.

Kazu softened as he walked over to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. “Then I can see why she did it.” He kissed her cheek and slowly rocked her to an invisible beat.

Tsukino relaxed in his arms as she rocked with him. She softly hummed as she smiled at the image in the mirror. They were able to withstand anything, including Miki’s moments.

4. breeze

Kazu closed his eyes as a gentle breeze blew a few strands of hair in front of his face. He opened them to see Tatsuha bringing out different dishes for their party. Kaori and Kyo argued about something, but Kazu knew they would disappear in five minutes. He chuckled and turned to Takahashi and Miko, debating over their favorite artistic period. Mina and Aki flipped through different things on their tablet, trying to hide their conjoined hands under the table.

Kazu grinned as their friends and family enjoyed the summer day with a picnic at Kaori’s house. He often forgot how much money she had, although she reassured him that didn’t matter. Kazu sat back in the field when someone sat next to him. He grinned when the breeze carried Tsukino’s light perfume to his nose.

“Hi Tsuki,”

“Hi,” Tsukino smiled and linked their fingers. “Tat-kun is almost finished with the food. Are you hungry?”

“Yep, are you?”

“Yeah,”

“Let’s get something to eat before Mori comes and eats up everything.”

“Yeah,” Tsukino giggled. She stood up and offered her hand.

Kazu took it and stood up. This is turning out to be a good day. He kissed her cheek on their way over to the table.

5. wind

Tsukino couldn’t believe the strength of the wind, whipping around her car. There was no way she could get out without the wind, dragging her down the street. She pulled out her phone and sent a quick text to Kazu. She would be out here for a while. Tsukino pulled out her Kindle intent on finishing the next chapter of her book. A knock on her window stopped her.

“Kazu! What are you doing?” Tsukino quickly unlock the door as Kazu slipped inside.

“I thought I would help add extra weight.” Kazu grinned.

Tsukino giggled. “Thanks. Want to sit in the backseat?”

“Sure,” Kazu pulled out his tablet and moved to the backseat.

Tsukino joined him and leaned against his shoulder as she picked her book. They read together, until the wind died down and they could go inside.

10. Rainbow

“Look, look there it is!” Tsukino pointed to the rainbow outside their window.

“Hmm?” Kazu mumbled sleepily as he turned around in bed.

“A rainbow! I have to text Miko. She wanted to paint the next fresh rainbow we had.” Tsukino jogged to her phone.

Kazu chuckled, running a hand through his hair to get the tangles out. He looked up and grinned at the rainbow shining bright outside their window. Seems fitting, since we made up last night.

“Alright, she got it and is going outside right now.” Tsukino grinned on her way back to the bed.

“That’s good. I can’t wait to see it.” Kazu said.

“Me too,” Tsukino nodded. She climbed in, looking nervously at Kazu. “I’m sorry about last night. I should have told you about needing help with the water bill. I’m sorry I hid it.”

“It’s okay. I’m sorry I overreacted.” Kazu kissed her cheek. “If you need help, let me know. We are in this together.”

“For better or for worse, right?” Tsukino settled in Kazu’s arms.

“Yep, for better or for worse,” Kazu hugged her before he captured her lips in a kiss.

Tsukino placed her hand on Kazu’s cheek as she kissed him back.

Their hands and lips explored each other as the rainbow shined outside their window.

They could do this, but they would do it together.

Aww, they're sweet. I like that they stand up for each other to their families.
