Author's Note: written based on this prompt : You are now at a crossroad. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. Then act upon it. (Anthony Robbins)
“I don’t know!”
Her shout echoes through the forest. And for a moment it feels as if the trees bent their branches a little closer to her. To comfort.
"Easy little one."
She looks up, her eyes searching the sky. But her Dragon does not arrive.
"Where are you?"
There is fear slipping through in her voice, her thoughts. It changes to panic when there comes no answer.
"Taigiri!!"
She turns around, eyes scanning her environment. Desperate…
"I’m here. I’m always here."
Caithlynn closes her eyes. Feels how tears are escaping, rolling over her cheeks, falling onto the grass.
"Help me. Please. Get me out of here…"
Through their bond she can feel her Dragon shake his head. And once again there is desperate panic blossoming in her chest. She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t understand. But she is afraid… Terrified of this place.
A place she doesn’t know. It looks like any other forest. But it feels... Different.
"I can’t little one. This time I cannot… You’ll have to get yourself out. You have to …"
A yell escapes her lips. Eyes still closed, her face directed to the sky. There are no stars…
"Where am I Taigiri? What am I doing here?"
She takes a deep breath. Tries to calm herself. When she opens her eyes again, it seems as if the wind raises in force a little. Only for a second.
"This is a crossroad Caithlynn. You have to decide. You have to figure it out. You have to figure things out … I can’t help you with this."
She can hear the sadness in his voice. The helplessness.
"Crossroad? Decide? What do I have to decide? What do I have to figure out?"
She knows better than to expect an answer. Taigiri was clear. It’s up to her now.
Sighing softly she sets herself down on the grass. Listening. She has long ago learned to trust her senses.
The branches of the trees are moving because of the wind. The leaves are whispering.
Closing her eyes. She always understands the Wind better if she isn’t looking.
Caithlynn smiles when she starts to understand the words. It's almost as if the Spirits are singing to her...
The crossroad. That is where you are. Forget your past. Tell us who you are now. Who have you decided you really are now?
She turns her head when she hears the voices around her. Tries to follow them. They have a tendency to disappear if you don't listen carefully.
Don't think about who you have been. We want to know who you are now. Who have you decided to become?
Frowning she tries to shield her heart, her feelings, her doubts and her thoughts. Knowing that they know well enough what is living inside her. They know her fears. They know her doubts.
Make your decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. Then act upon it.
Bowing her head, she opens her eyes. Watching the ground. Her hands are resting on her legs. She ignores the fact that they are trembling.
Caithlynn knows she has delayed this for too long. This. Thinking deeply about ... herself. About her feelings. About ... her destiny...
She has no trouble admitting to herself that she is scared. It's just ... She isn't sure she can handle this.
"I'm not strong enough for this Taigiri."
Her Dragon won't answer. She knows he won't. He doesn't need to.
Closing her eyes yet again, she stands up. Calls for the Wind. After all, she is the Wielder of the Element Air. She calls it to her hand, calls it around her.
It's strange how it manages to calm her mind. To free her thoughts. To get the doubts and the fears out of her heart.
"I am Caithlynn. I am afraid of what the future might bring. I am scared of my Destiny."
Taking a deep breath.
"I am Caithlynn. I am the Wielder of the Element Air. And I will fight the Shadow."
In the back of her mind she hears Taigiri roar. And when she opens her eyes again, the forest has changed. The feeling is different... Back normal.
There is a new found determination in her eyes.
“Don’t worry Taigiri. I can be more than just me. I can be the Wielder of the Element Air.”
