Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. Last Metallic Gold! Could I please get a color tag for Neapolitan?
Shane, looking back on a very, very long life, had plenty of advice she could have given Imi. Some of it, the child already knew--that life was only occasionally kind, and to be careful who you relied on.
But if she really thought back, to what she wished she'd known when she was Imi's age, it was this: that they may be few and far between, but there are people you can rely on. You just have to find them.
Of course, Imi had the three of them, so perhaps it wasn't very useful advice anyway. But it was something.
Dimana wasn't good at giving advice for kids. Which was part of why she'd never had any; she wasn't cut out to be a mom.
But Imi was here, a little sister who needed it, so Dimana would have to figure it out.
...although, honestly, that was probably not half-bad.
It was a big universe, full of things and people to learn and explore. Imi would get a chance to see a lot of it. More than most people did. So, the best advice Dimana could give was to watch and learn and figure it out for herself from there.
Rubika didn't really think about the advice she gave Imi; most of it was situational, not any kind of broad life advice.
(Maybe because she felt like she was still figuring out Life herself. Even now she knew she was its end.)
But if there was a pattern, or a theme, it lined up with what the others said--pay attention, trust your friends, and keep moving forward to the next thing.
Maybe that was it. Keep moving forward. Reflect on what you learned, that was necessary to grow, but at some point, you had to let go and move forward.
Imi was grateful that she had her sisters and their advice. She didn't know what the future would be--when the war they were supposed to be generals for ended. She didn't know if they'd stay together, although she couldn't imagine and didn't really want a world without the three of them in it.
But whatever happened, even if she ended up alone again, she had them to guide her. Which very few people had, three older sisters from three different generations, with power and experience, who loved her enough to help her find her way.
