Opal Jasper #19
Name: shadowsong26
Story: A Different Kind of Dance
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Opal Jasper #19. time and tide
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (Lilith Faire Day Six: Village Stage), photography, life drawing, glue ("Independence is key for you, Virgo, so even though it may not be Independence Day, feel free to celebrate anyhow. Give thanks to all the freedoms you have, and make sure you're taking advantage of them. You are your own entity with a strong life force that's capable of anything. Gather your spirit, mount your horse, and ride off to adventure."),
Word Count: 247
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Kes
Warnings: Sex/hookups.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Kes likes to keep her affairs brief.
Maybe someday, that'll change, when she's ready to settle down, if she ever is, but for now, she knows what she wants and it isn't anything permanent.
And what she wants is someone who sees her in a dockside tavern with gold in her hair and a weapon at her waist, and is beautiful and clever enough to match her, step for step; who will dance or play darts or just drink and flirt with her until they're both ready to go somewhere a touch more private for a different kind of dance.
Sometimes, she and a partner will impress each other enough that they'll stay together for the week or so until she leaves, or try to meet again the next time she's in that port. And it is nice when that happens--a taste of what she might want, someday.
But those lovers are the exception, rather than the rule. She's mostly chasing the sensational sensation of dancing in the dark with a beautiful stranger, giving and getting anonymous pleasure before going their separate ways.
Quick and simple, just like Kes likes it. And if that changes in the future, then it does. But for now, there are coastlines full of taverns with clever, beautiful people--some of them clever enough to match her, step for step, until it's time to move on to the next port, and the next tavern, and the next opportunity to dance in the dark.
