Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.

With Minalu, he mostly worries because she is his eldest and he's never done this before--Minalu herself seems fairly steady, and her driving fire isn't one that would lend itself to a quick and bitter end, but this is the first time he's had to watch one of his children enter their wildfire years and hope that, unlike two of his three siblings, they come out the other side, and it's utterly terrifying.

Odaki worries him less, because his first son is more careless than wild; the worst that comes from Odaki's wild years is in fact a blessing, even if his first grandchild is, unfortunately, a bastard.

The twins are hard again; and not just because only Lidare makes it through; but because they are twins, and because they are so different, and watching them start on this road together and drift further apart, to such wildly different ends, is hearbreaking.

Ulore is, in some ways, the hardest; there is something smoldering inside him that Amassa fears will tear him to pieces even past his wildfire years, but all he can do is watch him, watch over him, and hope his quiet and constant support is enough to see his youngest son through.

He doesn't worry about his niece very much; there is something sharp and cold about Kesshare, and he almost thinks she has her fire well managed by the time she hits her wild years, and while he does sometimes worry about her and her future happiness, it's unrelated to this.

Amassa has been luckier than some--the average rate of quicklighting is about one in four, and he has raised six children and only lost one to his wildfire years--but he has learned, over and over, that there is nothing else as hard as to know that there is only so much he can do to protect his beloved children as they learn themselves and eventually--hopefully--come into their own.

Oh man, the ending is heartbreaking knowing what actually happens to these kids. Well done.
