Tabloid rumors about her supposed wild exploits had never really bothered Sola. The people who mattered knew about any real skeletons in her closet, after all. As long as the gossip magazines kept their ink off her kids, she let them speculate about who she cheated on her husband with.
(None of it was actually cheating, of course; her husband was fully aware of her affairs, and she and her lovers were usually discreet enough that the tabloids almost never found a real one anyway.)
But this was getting ridiculous. The fourth article in ten days, all from the same byline, insisting she and Aiden Creed were sleeping together because clearly that was the only explanation for them arguing at a party they'd both been invited to two weeks ago.
(He'd made a pass; she'd turned him down reasonably gently, but he was not discreet and, from what she'd heard from a costar who'd dated him a few years ago, unlikely to be worth her time anyway; he'd gotten pissy about it.)
That meant Creed was probably feeding them the story. Because his ego couldn't handle being turned down by any woman. She knew the type.
Ugh. She'd have to actually find a way to respond to this one. Without getting into the mud with him, even if that would have been much easier--there were some parts of her reputation and dignity that she did actually care about.
She loved her career, she loved the work she did, she loved having all eyes on her, but there were times when Sola really, really hated being famous.
