Warm Light #10, Opal Jasper #1
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Frightened / Fearless
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Warm Light #10. The light in me will guide you home, Opal Jasper #1. born and bred
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (Lilith Faire Day Four: Second Stage), photography, life drawing, postcard, gift wrap, frame
Word Count: 181
Rating: PG
Characters: Isshiri
Warnings: New-parent anxiety.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Isshiri had never considered himself quite as fearless as his sister and some of his friends had liked to claim he was. Reckless, impetuous, impulsive, sure, but fearless? No. He had been afraid, some of the time--often, even. It was just that other things, his driving fire of hope or curiosity or both, outweighed that.
But now, holding his tiny newborn daughter for the first time, it was--strange. He was both more frightened and more fearless than he had ever been before.
Because, on the one hand, there was absolutely nothing he wouldn't do or dare for this small, perfect human in his arms. And on the other, the consequences of letting her down, of doing something foolish and leaving her alone--unbearable. Simply unbearable.
He would find a middle ground, a way to navigate between the two extremes. Eventually. Probably. He hoped.
But in this moment, with Roneli so new and small and fragile, the bravery and the terror swept over him in waves, outpaced only by the sheer joy at the fact that she was here, and his, and perfect.
