Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. Just under the wire, woohoo!
There was something about being nearly sixteen and the second daughter of the King that made Rehanye want to go a little wild. Especially with things between Del and Uncle Tahnrin starting to build into a real fight, it was frustrating. To feel just a little bit overlooked, to be an accessory, to be "and Rehanye" next to Del and never her own bright and shining star.
Not that she really wanted to be part of the succession fight. And not that she didn't support her sister and wouldn't settle into her place, the way Uncle Idan mostly had beside Father until he vanished. This wasn't about jealousy, not exactly.
But she had things to offer on her own. She deserved to be the first one mentioned in a story, just for a little while.
It was tempting to throw caution to the wind, find a terribly ill-advised partner to engage in a torrid affair, and be notorious for a little while. It would probably be fine in the long run, a small youthful indiscretion that could be swept aside even if Father decided to marry her to the heir to some other kingdom.
Then again, it was only probable that her reputation could survive a real scandal, and she did know better than to actively court one in such a way.
But some nights, when she sat at her sister's side and responded to the reasonably courteous but very brief attentions people paid her before their eyes slide by--some night, she was very, very tempted.

Yeah--unfortunately she doesn't have many opportunities that don't come with consequences she isn't willing to tolerate, but she gets by and she does find her way eventually.

She does, eventually, yeah. And even at this point she's not exactly unhappy with her life? She's happy more often than she's not. It's just sometimes very frustrating to be where she is. She'll find her way eventually though.
