peace for a ghost

"Hello?" Groff calls out, looking from side to side. His ears twitch and his whiskers wiggle a little as he tries to feel out the air for any trace of a sound.
He's at the manor's cellar- he thinks he saw maybe another glance of Leslie, or maybe someone else who needs his help?- Regardless, he followed them here, and now he can't find a trace of them.
"Are you alright?" He asks. "I'm not here to hurt you! I'm here to help!"
"... Where's Ries?" A sad-looking black cat appears in front of Groff, and he steps back for a few seconds before his ears perk up and he realizes he can see right through her. "I miss Ries..." She mumbles, cowering in on herself.
"... Rieslina?"
The cat nods.
"She's a ghost, and she's right outside. She's trying to kill everyone because she's mad about being dead, but..."
"She's dead? Then..." The cat looks down at herself. "Then I'm dead, too... Why? The fire..."
"I don't know what happened, but..." Groff gives a small smile. "If you want, we can be friends! I could even try to find a way to bring you bac-"
"You don't need to worry about that. Just..." She curls up near Groff. "Hold me..."
Groff wraps a paw around her the best he can.
"... The fire was... it was scary." The cat says. "Everything was normal- I was eating table scraps and having a good time- and then suddenly it was like we were all going to die..." She purrs in fear. "I... I was running around, looking for Ries to hold me, but... I never found her. Thank you for being there, instead."
"It's the least I can do." Groff says.
"... The reason why Ries is so angry... it's because the flames only hurt us, I think." She says. "I remember... little bits... The fire didn't spread past the house- it burnt only the nobles inside."
"She's angry at us for being poor and not having burnt to death?" Groff cocks his head, and the ghost nods.
"... Thank you, you kindhearted soul. I can see there's a bright light shining inside of you. Perhaps I'll see you again in my next life."
With that, the ghost cat fades away into nothing. Groff purrs a little uneasily, but turns back to see if anyone else in the mansion needs his help, next.
