Hibiscus does not speak, but she signs, and the way she carries herself gives her sign the exact same feelings associated with if she were speaking verbally.
Doesn't use some contractions ("you are" instead of "you're", for example)
He is not too formal to use nicknames, however- he refers to Duskie as 'Duskie', and not 'Duskfall', unlike a certain someone else.
They often refer to their actions rather formally, often understating any novelty to them- they'd refer to both following a recipe from a book and just mixing magical objects inside a pot as 'doing some alchemy'.

What is the purpose of seeking to know about a field of study if they do not love it? If you live a life full of banality and claim it is a 'scholar's life', what sort of person does that make you?"
