Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always. Lif is Taz and Kes's younger sister. Last White Russian!
Some people are surprised to find out that the great war hero Taz Hantree and the high-ranking Captain Kes Hantree, who built themselves into Stories out of nothing, have another sister. They assume, since she doesn't have a Story of her own, that Lif must be the boring one. Probably not too bright, either.
And, sure, she didn't leave to go sailing and chase glory and fame and prestige on the sea, but she never wanted that for herself. And, as an Unthreaded air-mage instead of a water-mage like Taz, there was never an obligation for her to pretend otherwise.
But the fact she stayed home and built a life here never meant she didn't have a wild side. There's nothing she likes more than heading down to the beaches where the sailors while away the time between trips. She dances, and she flirts, finds a bed partner for gold or just for fun. Sometimes she even remembers their names.
They all remember the one she gave them.
As for cleverness, well. She knows who to ask for gold and how to save it; by the time she's too old to dance the way she used to, she outright owns half of the gathering spots she used to play in.
Sure, her life is quiet next to her sisters', but it's the quiet of a waterfall next to a hurricane. Only in comparison.
