POEM 4



Hail, men in attendance,
For it is the attendant ones for whom I sing
In reliance of the openness of your ears,
In expectance of the wisdom of your years,
And with trust in your dependence
On common charity in turn, do I sing,
While my companion tenderly plucks her string.


You are the wise, you are the great,
Or so you assert, my own judgement must wait,
Until the night is past and morning has come,
For opinion shall with dawn burst into blossom.
If you wish for mine to be a high regard
Do not use the dark hours to guard
Despicable, shameful action from public eye.


Rest assured, what I see tonight
I will not hide away from your wives’ and friends’ sight.
Your names will never die when of them I write songs,
Therefore behave, or they be made examples of wrongs.
Let my songs be light and fair, as you say you are,
Good sirs, you yourself may decide the bar.
Simply show me nothing that I can in writing decry.

Ha, an excellent moral! I love the very distinct tone of these you're getting across as you continue. This poet does indeed seem a force to be reckoned with here.
