Rain.
Different Material beings had different feelings towards the force of nature. It was understandably so given the many different materials that the beings were made up of. A material being made out of mascaras would leave a trail of black streaks as they walked. Puddles of glittery water could pool around the feet of a glitter slime material being. The streets always looked interesting after a rain storm and would have to be cleaned up by a cleaning and resource renewal team.
Some of the Material Beings were able to walk through the rain without trouble. Those who had a container body of sorts more often. Their true materials would not be affected by the rain given their protective shells of a container.
But for most the rain was a major hindrance to a Material's being days. A little rain wasn't too bad. But enough rain and it would be hard to stay in form until the extra moisture could evaporate away either in the sun light or possibly until someone else could come along and help.
Because of this weakness to this natural weather every Material beings walked around with umbrellas just in case. Umbrellas only did some much in heavy rain.
One would wonder the solution to the problem that popped up often enough. That was of course was to find a safe spot to place their vessels (to the side off of any walking paths or maybe end up a bench was a nice spot. ) and stay in their vessels until the rain stopped.
Rain drops on a drum barrel vessel was a song. Those same rain drops on a glass bottle vessel were a show of beauty. Light shining through the water that would gather then roll off the sides of the bottle made a display for the Material Being inside. A front row seat to nature making art.
So maybe in the end these rainy, slow moments were not too bad. A calming experience everyone needed time to time.

And thank you! The Material Plane is one of my newer worlds I've built but most certainly most unique. I look forward about going more into these beings and the characters in this world at some point.
