Newsprint #2, Psychedelic Purple #11: Bad News for Endangered Predators (Uncategorized)
Name: Bad News for Endangered Predators
Story: Uncategorized
Colors: Newsprint #2 (You live the surprise results of old plans.), Psychedelic Purple #11 (she's old enough to know better)
Supplies and Styles: chalk, gesso; chiaroscuro, miniature collection, photography, pointillism, triptych
Word Count: 333
Rating: teen
Warnings: Vampire-typical violence, POV character death.
Note: These one-sentence miniatures are set in the World of Darkness (Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG), but are not about any pre-existing character, I'm just having fun with the setting and some style-dickery.
Summary: A lick can't catch a break these nights.
*
Your Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Is a Big Lie
You thought you'd get away with it, and the temptation of the eternal winter night had been too much to resist, but as it turns out getting a job at an Arctic oil rig and trying to eat the crew to save the planet always had a non-zero chance of getting you thrown out into the black, bottomless, freezing sea.
-
How your Body Adapts to Extreme Cold
As the faintest glow of sunlight, too far to reach you, illuminates the far edge of the ice cave, your last thought before sinking into mindless Torpor is this: At least when they discover you they will not wonder why this body was so well preserved.
-
A Demographic Time Bomb Is About to Hit the Beef Industry
You wake up ravenous; and then you wake up again, with warm blood gushing into your mouth and filling your body with warmth, driving away the Beast that had full control of you until it was sated; and you look up into the horrified faces of the fishermen, some of them already grabbing for harpoons as you let the body of their comrade fall on the tilting deck of the ship and rise up, ready for second breakfast.
-
Forget Growth. Optimize for Resilience
You need a fresh start, so you travel south, towards the Equator, through a world that's changed a lot since you last saw it, looking for somewhere where the night and day balance and the technology won't find you, where people have too many troubles to concern themselves with one more monster.
-
The Foods the World Will Lose to Climate Change
The Methuselah shakes off the desert sand and bears her fangs, blackened and burned and moving like a wounded bear, suddenly split-second fast, too fast to even fight, turning you from predator to prey, a meal strong enough to sate her ancient stomach, and so here, your last thought is: If only I had stayed in that cave.

(Btw: on the tilting deck of the ship and rice up, ready for second breakfast. - presumably that's a typo for 'rise'? <3)
