Newsprint #17, Psychedelic Purple #15: Spilled Nuts (Peccadillo Parlour)
Name: Spilled Nuts
Story: Peccadillo Parlour
Colors: Newsprint #17 (People won't behave if they have nothing to lose.), Psychedelic Purple #15 (I know I'll never be the same)
Supplies and Styles: novelty beads (someone told me), pastels (Ladiesbingo prompt "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step"), stain (Order and simplification are the first steps toward the mastery of a subject -Thomas Mann); life drawing, silhouette
Word Count: 555
Rating: teen
Warnings: Mention of sex work.
Summary: Juliette has picked up a lead.
Note: Pretty cheeky to call this a story, when it's just me vibing on Anna and Juliette's desperate werewolf road trip again. Ah well, I do what I want. ("People won't behave if they have nothing to lose" could be the byline of the entire Anna and Juliette storyline.)

"I don't think you can be my werewolf mentor anymore," Anna told her girlfriend.
"I mean, I'm your elder," Juliette said. "I'm supposed to take care of you." She sat cross-legged on the bed, eating salty nuts from a pink ceramic bowl.
Anna picked up a nut and threw it at her, but not at her face. Juliette caught it in mid-air and ate it with a smile. Somehow that got Anna's goat even more. It seemed, in a way, emblematic of how they always interacted. How could someone she liked so much also be so irritating?
Did she even like Juliette? Or was Juliette just there? Was this an ace spectrum thing, or a depression thing? Or a werewolf thing?
Juliette did smell really good, like home and peace and a full belly, especially as the full moon drew nearer. So maybe it was a werewolf thing.
"My point is that I really don't think you know what you're doing, either. And you haven't been like this for much longer than I have. And our lives have gone to utter shit since it all happened."
Juliette tilted her head and pressed her lips together.
"Yeah, fine, okay." Anna sighed. It was not Juliette's fault that she'd been jumped in the middle of London by someone who probably also didn't know what had been happening to them. Whether it was Juliette's fault that she'd then gone on to bite Anna... That was something Anna preferred not to think about too much. "But I think we need help. Since we've decided not to Thelma and Louise it quite yet. We can't just keep finding different cellars every month. We already ran out of England."
"It's not a big country," Juliette pointed out.
Anna pushed aside the bowl of nuts and crawled over to put her head in Juliette's lap. "Just promise me we will find someone else who is like us, who maybe knows what the hell is going on. Okay? If there are a lot of us out there, or even just enough..."
Juliette threaded her fingers through Anna's pale, flighty hair, and hummed. "I may have found someone."
Anna lifted her head. "Really?"
"I wasn't sure, so I didn't want to say. And you don't like it when I go online."
Anna sat fully up.
"How? Where? Is there, like, a genuine werewolves Discord server or something?"
"There are, and they're all otherkin." Juliette shook her head with a little smile at Anna's expression. "No, someone got careless and made some private blog post public, and it got picked up by the conspiracy sites. I followed it up a little with a politician in the area, definitely private, definitely not going to get leaked. You know when I cammed a little that time you were at the movies? Yeah... He's not going to tell. Like I said, I'm not sure. But I think I know where we could go."
"I won't complain about it again. You cam all you like." Anna leaned close and kissed Juliette on the lips, making her giggle. "You're terrible and I hate you," Anna groused, and kissed her again.
"I love you," said Juliette, grinning ear to ear. "You're wonderful."
"Stop."
The bowl tipped off the bed, onto the B&B's fluffy carpet, spilling salt and nuts on the shag.
