Notes: An introduction to Joren :) A gentle giant, he’s the calm, supportive backbone of the cast.

This time, Joren could look at himself in the mirror. Tawny hair, shaved short against his scalp. Bright hazel eyes threaded with gold. Cheeks tanned from days spent in the fields, and a dusting of freckles across his nose, like a scattering of wildflower pollen.

He didn’t mind how he looked these days. Checking the fit of his layered tunics across his chest, he sighed. It would be another hot one today, but there was nothing to be done for it. At least the wrapped style compressed his chest.

When he kissed his mother before leaving, she called him Joren.

Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Characters: Joren
Warnings: None
Notes:

With the coming of spring and the defrosting after a long winter, Joren worked for long days in his mother’s fields. He cleared the brush with sweeps of a scythe, humming to himself as he worked. The sun moved across the sky, its rhythm settling into his bones. Ever since he’d been old enough to carry a bucket or pull weeds, Mama had him out there.

He worked even harder to build broad shoulders and strong muscles. But he used his strength to support life, not for violence. Crouching, he dug his fingers into the dry soil, coaxing life anew.

Color: Lilac #1: Daisy

Notes: This prompt uses an obscure meaning of the daisy: I will keep your secrets.

He didn’t hide that he had metamorphosed as he grew into adulthood. Many of the same merchants staffed the market stalls and shops as when he was a child. They saw that he changed. Starting slowly, not all at once. Shorn hair beneath a floppy hat. Loose tunics and hose, worn in layers and tied intricately to flatten curves. Pitching his voice deeper, stating that he now went by the name Joren.

Those who shunned him did not matter. He brought to town the largest, most succulent harvest they had ever seen. Who could gossip when he fed their bellies?

Aw, Joren seems like a good character to have around! <3

(Btw, I think we're generally supposed to put individual pieces in individual posts, even when they're short?)

Nope, you're good. From the Q&A for triptych & diptych on the styles page: Should the pieces for a diptych or triptych be posted together or in different posts? Either! The intent was for them to be posted together, but if you feel they work better posted separately, that's allowed. If you do post them separately, please add links to all the parts on all the parts.
