Summary: Gail spends most of her time floating.

She spends most of her time floating these days.
Not literally, though the morphine does a good imitation. It’s more mental. She just feels so detached, except detached is wrong too. She cares what’s happening in the world around her- at least, she does when it’s right in front of her. She still loves her family, she’s still happy to see them when they come. But it’s all very distant somehow.
It makes her think of her children’s pets, on their last inevitable trips to the vet. Not dead, but not that alive. Tired. Ready.
She thinks she’s ready too.
