True Blue #5, White Russian #15
Name: shadowsong26
Story: Enough Trying
'Verse: Lux
Colors: True Blue #5. Penpal/Internet friend, White Russian #15. Чему́ быть, того́ не минова́ть. (Whatever will be, will be.)
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (Lilith Faire Day 3: Second Stage), photography, tapestry (True Blue + novelty beads), canvas, oils, novelty beads ("She says "ooh, it's so hard to love/When love was your great disappointment."" - Rattlesnakes, Lloyd Cole)
Word Count: 168
Rating: PG
Characters: Shane
Warnings: Don't think so, no.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Shane wasn't sure she particularly wanted to start dating again, but...well, her friends had thought it would be a good idea, and she couldn't be sure until she tried, right?
Right.
It made sense. In theory.
Which was why she was here, on her third blind date since signing up for this service, listening to her third prospective partner tell her all about how his ex had broken his heart.
She understood. Really, she did. Alex had screwed her over, too. But she didn't have room for someone else's heartbreak as well as her own.
At the end of the hour, she gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek, and wished him well. Then she went home and took her profile down.
Maybe she'd meet someone worth her time in her day-to-day life. Maybe she wouldn't. But she'd learned enough from this experiment.
It was time to stop actively looking and move on with her single life and find her future happiness that way.
