When she really thought about it, Summer had always known that Connor was going to leave her. But Andrew was something else entirely. He seemed so patient with her, so careful about explaining things when she didn't understand. If life seemed easier for him, well, it was easier for everyone she knew, and her family hadn't stopped loving her.

She'd tried. She'd really tried, tried so hard. She laughed at his jokes even when she didn't get them, and didn't go on about things that bored him, and let him cuddle her all the time.

She was so stupid sometimes.
