Introductions!
Hi, and welcome to Rainbow Fiction! We're a relaxed writing community for original fiction. Our local theme is colors as the names of our challenge lists, and the prompts for each are related somehow. You can find those over in
rainbowlists. And over in the
rainbowlounge we chat, post games and challenges, and it's where you can ask questions for the mods or see announcements about new and updated stuff.
This here is our introductory, getting-to-know-you post. We'd like you to comment with the name you want us to know you by, your pronouns, and a bit about you and your story. We're interested in your story background and your characters, and we'd also like to hear about your writing philosophy. Do you write for fun? To work toward the goal of getting published? A way to interact with other people? Like to read other writing and connect that way?
Anything you'd like us to know, go for telling us here. A special welcome to members, new or old, participating in
getyourwordsout. YES YOU CAN DO IT.
Some more places associated with us are:
justcreate, with weekly posts to check-in and get encouragement with anything you need to do; the discord for both RainbowFic and JustCreate (let
silvercat17 know if the link expires); RainbowFic on tumblr; and our collection on Archive of Our Own.

My real DW is
I'm a writing for fun person, not a writing for publication person, by a long shot. (Actually? I hate the act of writing. I tell people all the time that I hate writing, and I do totally mean it. I don't like writing. I think entirely in images and snippets of conversation and montages, set to music and all, and so the act of translating my ideas to words is horrifically painful. I do it anyway, because I love to tell stories. I practically live for it.) Therefore, while I have sets of characters that definitely go together, I don't really have projects, so I don't have names for them. My work (our work, really, I guess) is all about the people and their stories and their lives. When one tale ends, another one's going to start. We balance a LOT at once.
Some of the groups who tend to hang together have informal names based on location, and I'm sure if there's any sort of story index this time around (we both had a brief flirtation with Runaway Tales and did our best at that, but then stopped for various reasons) they'll end up listed based on that, but I also use tags in my journal based on the name of the character so that's really the easiest way to try to follow anything, if anybody wanted to. Most of what's up on this journal I'm really not all that proud of, to be honest. My best work is locked at
What I create (because honestly "write" is kind of cutting out all of the oral creation, doodling, collaging etc that is incorporated into the same universes and ideas) is generally along the lines of being mystery, romance, spy novel, urban fantasy, thriller and slice of life all at the same time. I'm completely incapable of describing more detail without wanting to cry, because it's so expansive and I'm not doing all that well mentally right now. We've got worldhopping secret agents and their rescue group co-workers. Everyday college students who stumble upon dead bodies and end up involved in the middle of a war between a radical environmentalist group and the government. The Elements (Air, Fire, Shadow, Water and Earth) themselves and their mages. A fetish club that is more inhabited by magical creatures than some of its members realize. A lot of stuff with criminals, including a group of Robin Hood-style criminal mages who are totally the good guys. Talking dogs. There are a few posts that actually explain my worlds better in the journal itself. I actually am not a big fantasy person, but he is and drags me into it and claims I do a good job with it! So okay.
Sometimes I fall into first person, and it's dangerous, but actually now that I link that I realize it is something actually on this journal that I actually like!
I'm very tired and making a giant messy ramble of myself, aren't I? Well. Hi there.
My name is Rue, I kind of write a little bit of everything. My specialty is awesome female characters; I do it in spades.

Hi, please be my friend

Your stories sound awesome. The Elements, the fetish club, the college students--everything sounds amazing.
(Side note: if you don't want a specific story tag, just to keep an author tag, feel free to let us know.)

This sounds awesome. Actually all of it sounds awesome, but those are like my six favorite genres. HIT ME BIG MAN.
