Introductions!

Hi, and welcome to Rainbow Fiction! We're a relaxed writing community for original fiction. Our local theme is colors as the names of our challenge lists, and the prompts for each are related somehow. You can find those over in [community profile] rainbowlists. And over in the [community profile] rainbowlounge  we chat, post games and challenges, and it's where you can ask questions for the mods or see announcements about new and updated stuff.

This here is our introductory, getting-to-know-you post. We'd like you to comment with the name you want us to know you by, your pronouns, and a bit about you and your story. We're interested in your story background and your characters, and we'd also like to hear about your writing philosophy. Do you write for fun? To work toward the goal of getting published? A way to interact with other people? Like to read other writing and connect that way?

Anything you'd like us to know, go for telling us here. A special welcome to members, new or old, participating in [community profile] getyourwordsout. YES YOU CAN DO IT.

Some more places associated with us are: [community profile] justcreate, with weekly posts to check-in and get encouragement with anything you need to do; the discord for both RainbowFic and JustCreate (let [personal profile] silvercat17 know if the link expires); RainbowFic on tumblr; and our collection on Archive of Our Own.

I avoid giving out my name online so let's just stick with Meeko as your pronoun for me. As for the other pronoun references, I'm still trying to figure that all out what you mean...

I have 2 original fiction pieces, one is partially posted elsewhere (working on reorganizing here on DW). It's called Port Jackson. It originally started as role playing character in an original game someone had made some time ago but my friend and I loved our people (a husband and wife duo) so much we decided to make it into a story. It's about a young married couple who try to make it on their own in a tiny sea-port community. Jason, the husband, is a local police officer, and Elsa, the wife, is a literature/drama teacher at the nearby high school. Her parents died long before and his parents are a handful to say the least. As they try to start a family of their own, they realize it won't be easy (all attempts fail) and resort to fostering needy children, eventually adopting one abused little girl.

The other original fic is Mullens Creek, written with my good friend Sean. It's not posted anywhere yet but we are 16 chapters in. It's about a recently discharged Marine returning home to a small dusty rural town where the only fun thing to do is get drunk on the lake beach and skinny dip (well for teenagers...) His ex girlfriend is a doctor in town when he comes home, but had moved on to an abusive relationship that eventually ends and she gets back together with the marine. That's about where it's sitting now. Eventually he is going to be recalled and she discovers a few things while he is away and manages it with the help of his family and her parents).

Hi, Meeko! We mean if you prefer to go by "she", "he", "they", or a different pronoun.

Both your stories sound really interesting, Port Jackson in particular. I'm a sucker for family-life stories like that. I'm looking forward to reading what you have!

|Ahhh, I am a she in that case!

I'm in the process of importing my works from LJ still and reorganizing the tagging system. I'll be sure to link you when I'm done!

Ours is the same way! We're moving everything we individually wrote from a community (as there are three of us) to a shared journal to index and save it all. It's a long process, to say the least.

Yeah, I'm not getting rid of my LJ account so I just imported and can always fix posts through openid. I'm too lazy to repost EVERYTHING.

But here are 3 Port Jackson fics (in order)

1. New Beginnings
2. Turn The Page
3. A New Chapter

Hi, Meeko! Welcome to rainbowfics! I'm with Kelly, I cannot wait to read some of Port Jackson. Family stories are like my kryptonite.
