Characters: Lonura, Nolani
Warnings: Some relationship awkwardness.
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
It wasn't that Lonura had never seen Nolani since they'd separated. She'd stayed at court, in Glass, and so of course she technically saw Nolani frequently, when she was home and not in Feredar.
But at the same time, they hadn't spoken. They hadn't seen one another. Not one-on-one, not in a room like this, in Nolani's suite in the palace in Feredar.
She had Andrell's support, of course, and she hoped...she hoped that it had been long enough, that perhaps Nolani missed her as much as she'd missed her beloved, but...
She knew there were no guarantees. And she didn't necessarily expect anything, she just hoped.
She had to try. If she didn't--if she didn't, she would never be able to live with herself. If she tried and failed, she could move on, one way or another.
Lonura had everything planned out. Exactly what she'd say, if she got the chance to say her piece. How she would approach her, how she would handle Andrell, how she would...
When she saw Nolani standing there, framed by the window, dressed in the Feredar fashion, it took her breath away.
It was only the same frozen look on Nolani's face, what may have been an answering glimmer of hope in her eyes, that allowed Lonura to find her voice--if not her planned speech--again.
"I've missed you so much," she said. "And I'm--I'm sorry, I said such awful things, and--"
Nolani took two quick steps across the room, her skirt rustling faintly as she moved, and flung her arms around Lonura, who sagged into her, fitting against her as if they'd never been apart.
"I've missed you, too."
