Rubika doesn't seek disaster. She doesn't even seek adventure, really. That's not why she took the messenger job for the Family.
Rubika isn't totally sure what she's looking for, exactly. Not at first, anyway. But there's something about being the thread that ties the Family members in her sector together--something about collecting all their stories. Even if it's just the most basic reports of births and weddings and deaths.
So, really, what Rubika's seeking is that web of life and death, like a net of fine needlework, tying them all together. Not disaster, but the foundation for what comes next.
