"Seriously, Andy," Jack says, one long summer night sitting together on the beach. "Who hurt you? Because I'm gonna kill him. Or her."

"Him," Miranda replies. "I'm not into women. And what makes you think anyone hurt me?"

"Your love life," Jack says. "Or lack thereof. You had a new boyfriend every other week in college and now nothing? Really?"

She sighs, and tips back into the sand, staring up at the stars. "Nobody to kill, Jack, I just got sick of putting up with men."

"Ouch," Jack says, cheerfully. "You're sure?"

"Very." If she's sure of anything, she's sure of that. The only person who hurt her is herself.

She's diverting rather skillfully here. I don't know what she's talking about but it's clear she is not going to tell him.

It would be a valid reason though, and none of his business anyway!

It has to do with Miranda's emotional issues and how she sees herself as essentially poisonous rather than any specific incident, but yeah, she's not telling Jack. The Hennessy siblings may be very protective of each other but there's things they don't get to know.
