Danny was more than familiar with lust. That was the sum total of her relationships, really, lust and sex and running at the first sign of anything more serious, like commitment. She could blame it on her childhood, but Michael seemed to be fine, so maybe it was just her being terrible at feelings.

But Lars was weirdly okay with it. She ran a couple times in the beginning, picked fights as an excuse to break up, then turned around and he was there again. Like he liked her. Like he got her.

Fuck. Maybe this would work after all.

Poor Danny is nervous, maybe Lars gets that. Sometimes someone picks fights to create distance because they genuinely are not interested in more, and in this case I guess it is more instinctive, out of fear. He's got to be good if he can tell which is which.

He's good because he's a liar himself, plus he's known Danny for a long time. They muddle along. And it's definitely out of fear.
