Silver Screen 8, Rich Black 10: The Nuclear Option
Author: Kat
Title: The Nuclear Option
Story: Shine Like It Does
Colors: Silver screen 8 (May the Force be with you.), rich black 10 (Pluto)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, acrylic (words associated with money), oils (the nuclear option), stickers ("When things aren’t adding up in your life, start subtracting.” -Unknown), graffiti (Lilith Faire Second Stage Into the Fire, Sarah McLachlan), novelty beads (Not Ready to Make Nice, Dixie Chicks)
Word Count: 100
Rating: G
Summary: Charlotte made her decision.
Warnings: racism and classism.
Charlotte made her decision long before senior year of college; that was just when she told everyone.
When had she made it? Before college, certainly. Before high school? Elementary? The divide between rich and poor was obvious as early as kindergarten; it was just as obvious which one she resembled. Then there were her cousins, other Latinas, maybe not poor but nothing like her. The Mexican girl at the party was never a guest.
So she'd go it alone. She wouldn't be the poor little rich girl nobody wanted.
Her mother didn't fight her, but then, who else could understand?
