Lapis Lazuli 19: Okay

Author: Kat
Title: Okay
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Lapis lazuli 19 (qualm)
Supplies and Materials: Seed beads, miniature, fabric (people at a gay pride parade with rainbow masks(?)),
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: They're not violently homophobic.
Warnings: homophobia.
Notes: Pride fic #14. Joseph is Gina's cousin and a big part of the reason it takes her so long to come out to her parents.

Being gay just isn't done in their family.

They're not violently homophobic. Joseph's parents didn't throw him out of the house or anything, and no one hit him or screwed with his stuff or threatened him. Dad went a little purple, but he didn't say anything (or meet Joseph's eyes). Mom went a little pale, but told him it would be fine (her voice wavering).

He was feeling pretty okay about it anyway until he heard her on the phone to his aunt, calling it a "phase."

Well. They're not violently homophobic.

But it definitely isn't going to be fine.

:( :( :( Poor Joseph. I hope he finds people who will love him without the condition of heterosexuality.

People do change their minds. It took a long time for my mum, but she's all on-board now. I think the grandkid helps. XD

Ouch; so sharply observed, as ever.
