Moods, thoughts, places, minds: Jack changes with the wind. It was harder when he was little, but by adolescence it's second nature. Play straight with Abuelita and the cousins, devil-may-care with his friends, studious and thoughtful at home, stable in therapy. Different people, named Jackson Hennessy.

He's not pretending, is the thing, or he doesn't think he is. Code-switching, maybe, at an extreme level. He just is all of these people, and more.

He doesn't know who he is at the core of himself but then, he never really did.

It's fine. He's having fun.

He'll figure it out someday.
