Warm Light 9: i am here tonight
Author: Kat
Title: i am here tonight
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Warm light 9 (Everything's fine in the morning)
Supplies and Materials: Seed beads, tapestry (warm light/seed beads), miniature, stickers ("Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do." - John Wooden), glue (Your exceptional solution to a work-related problem cultivates hope in coworkers and higher-ups alike.), novelty beads (Safer Hands by Olive), chalk (It's Either the Best or the Worst Time to Have a Baby)
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: Anna and the baby, after.
Warnings: fire, implied death.
Notes: It really is a work problem.
Fire. Shouts. Gunshots. Delia begging her to take the baby. Running, Chiara sobbing in her arms. The roof collapsing with a roar. Screams- hers, Chiara, those trapped inside, Delia, Delia, Delia...
Anna woke gasping, and thought- no. Not Delia screaming. It was Delia's baby, her wails already devolving into hiccuping sobs.
Anna got up and took the baby in her arms, bouncing her gently. Poor thing: motherless, and fatherless by now. What would happen to her? She was so completely alone in the world.
The baby quieted, staring at her with large brown eyes. Delia's eyes.
Well. Perhaps not completely.
