Rain Cloud 12, Warm Light 6, Lapis Lazuli 11: Hard as Hello
Author: Kat
Title: Hard as Hello
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Rain cloud 12 (I looked everywhere for it), warm light 6 (I'm at your back door with the earth of a hundred nations in my skin), lapis lazuli 11 (encroach)
Supplies and Materials: Seed beads, tapestry (warm light/seed beads)
Word Count: 110
Rating: G
Summary: Alan finds someone he was looking for.
Warnings: None.
Notes: For those of you unfamiliar with this storyline, Arelie had an affair with Alan's father maybe thirty-odd years ago.
The woman who opens the door is nothing and everything Alan expected. She's not beautiful, but Baba never said she was. She looks kind, but that's wishful thinking; no one really looks kind. She looks tired-- he has kids, he knows what that looks like. And she looks politely confused, like a total stranger has just knocked on her door and stared at her, silent.
He's practiced for this moment, in motel showers and rental cars, but all his words have deserted him.
"Hello?" she prompts him, after a moment.
"Arelie Koch?" he asks, and when she nods, "My name is Alan Amala, and I'm pleased to finally meet you."
