Ruth and Simon sometimes discovered things about him he couldn’t remember.

Some were important: strawberries made him break out in hives. (The reaction hadn't involved his throat closing or anything that bad, thank God, but that was not a fun date.)

Some were trivia: he could knit. Muscle memory had made her several pretty scarves over the years.

And some were just--bizarre: the photo, on an old brochure, of him in a kilt.

Apparently, Simon had, at some point, gone to Scotland.

Unfortunately, the travel company had folded since then. They might have gotten some actual answers from them.

Okay, I snorted at the strawberries thing. But also, I love that last line; it's chilling.
